Welcome! My name is Mary Beth and I enjoy writing to connect with and empower others – specifically mothers; having worked to strengthen parents and families even before I had one of my own. I speak from my heart and personal experience, but also from over 11 years as a Masters Social Worker. My writing is for those who feel lost, uncertain, confused, or depressed. I want readers to know that even in those darkest, hopeless moments, that you are filled with purpose even when you cannot feel it.
I have worked professionally as a parent educator, home visitor, behavioral consultant, school social worker, case manager, clinical counselor, supervisor, and director. I have worked with adults, parents, children, adolescents, and young adults. Currently, I work part-time as an online professor of several undergraduate courses including Psychology, Counseling, Human Growth and Development, and Wellness for Life. Personally, I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
These experiences surely give me credibility. But they do not define who I am. My credentials have helped shape me. But they do not make me. God gave me breath and life. I have purpose and had purpose long before. I am purpose. And so are you. Life is full of moving seasons of purpose. It may change moment to moment or year to year, looking different in the various settings you find yourself in. But it is still always there – your purpose – in each season of life.
